How I Reconcile Being Christian and Woowoo

Disclaimers: Obviously if you are walking in Christian faith and something convicts you, do not partake in it. As Christians we all have differing convictions and what might bring me closer to God might pull you away. Trust that nudge.

While I am Christian, I and this space, remain a safe haven for ANY faith (or lack of faith) that you find yourself in. I continue to be an ally to all marginalized groups and continue to work to create a safe space to explore, ask questions, seek wisdom, and identify for yourself what resonates and what doesn’t, all while creating a judgment-free space to do so.

I am often asked: “How can I be the Woowoo Bestie and also be Christian?”

Because, apparently, crystals are wrong.
Following the moon cycles is wrong.
Herbalism and using the intelligence of plants is wrong.
Manifestation is wrong.
Smoke cleansing is wrong.
It is all demonic. It is all pulling you away from God.

But is it reallyyyy?

People ask how I can be so spiritual and Christian. When they do, I say: “My spirituality coexists with my Christianity. My spirituality reinforces my faith, and my faith reinforces my spirituality.”

Crystals Aren’t Just Pretty

I love crystals. I wear crystals. I display them in my home. I educate on them.

Do I think they have magical powers? No. But wanna talk about magic? Let’s. If you do not think that a woman conceiving, growing, and birthing a child IS the definition of magic, that sounds like a pretty boring way of viewing life.

Crystals show up all over the Bible, from the foundations of Heaven to the breastplate of Aaron. Beyond that, crystals are scientifically fascinating:

·       Stability because their structure does not break down easily

·       Consistent vibration as they resonate at steady frequencies, like quartz in watches

·       Energy conduction since they can store, amplify, and transmit energy

Crystals are the ONLY naturally occurring structures on Earth where molecules arrange in a perfect, repeating lattice pattern. Ours? They arrange in pure chaos. In other words… they don’t arrange.

Our bodies are energetic too. Cells, the heart, and the brain all communicate with tiny electrical signals. Because crystals vibrate consistently, they can:

·       Help bring our energy back into balance

·       Provide grounding and stability

·       Amplify intention when we work with them

Crystals are not just pretty stones. They are nature’s most stable energy patterns. Connecting with them invites our own bodies and minds into greater harmony.

The Moon, Cycles, and Spiritual Check-ins

And then there is the moon. Fun fact: the date we celebrate Easter is based on the first Sunday after the first full moon following the Spring equinox. A little woowoo for the Christian church, huh?

Many women’s menstrual cycles naturally sync with the moon’s 28-day cycle. I often use the moon to gauge where I am in my cycle. And yes, I do rituals during the new and full moons. They are symbolic:

·       The new moon represents new beginnings

·       The full moon represents release

What is more beautiful than checking in on our goals, our emotional state, and where we want to go or what we need to let go of? Being in tune with the moon is simply being in tune with nature, which draws us closer to the Divine creation of God. Seriously, have you ever laid in your back yard or drive way or the back of a truck just staring at the stars and the perfect formation of the moon? It’s perfect design and beauty have brought me to tears on more than one occassion.

Plants, Oils, and Herbalism

Essential oils and herbalism deserve attention.

An essential oil was a precious gift presented to Jesus at his birth. Essential oils continue to appear in Scripture for anointing and healing. The plants surrounding us, full of wild healing powers for our physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual bodies, were created by God for us to use. They are nature’s medicine, tools for enhancing life and deepening our connection with Him.

Given to us, freely, abundantly, with intelligence to work in harmony with our bodies… so why are we avoiding them? Avoiding the benefits they could provide for our intricately designed bodies? Because we fear doing so will make us Pagans? That it’ll slip up away from God? Quite the contrary, my dear.

Manifestation, Faith, and Alignment

Manifestation can be a triggering word, I get it. But at its core, what is manifestation other than radical faith? It is:

·       Asking for something and trusting it will come

·       Working on your subconscious beliefs around worthiness

·       Acting in ways that attract, not repel, what you want

·       Recognizing that what we receive and what we do not is for our highest good

Jesus even gave some of the BEST EVER manifestation advice in Matthew 17:20: He replied, “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”

Smoke Cleansing

Smoke cleansing gets a bad rap. But think about it. Incense appears in Biblical ceremonies. Burning herbal bundles often used in cleansing and purification rituals releases negative ions that bind to dust, mold spores, and pet dander, improving air quality. Herbs also release aromas that influence mood, stress, and emotions through our limbic system. A little smoke and smell can make your space and your mind feel lighter.

Yet another simple tool, found in nature, to support us BOTH practically and spiritually.

So, How Can I Be Christian and Woowoo?

Honestly, how could I not be?

Do not let fear blind you to the tools God has provided within and outside of the earth that ultimately bring us closer to Him. Crystals, moon cycles, plants, manifestation, smoke, they are not distractions from God. They are ways to experience His creation, honor His gifts, and grow in faith and awareness.

Being spiritual and Christian is not a contradiction. For me, it is a harmony.
