My Third Month on Balance + Burn: What Happened When the Scale Didn’t Move
I documented the before, during, + one month update on my Balance + Burn journey + honestly thought that was enough.
Nope.
Because while I experienced huge changes in cravings, fullness cues, food chatter, + connecting with my body… EVEN MORE has happened since then.
But first, an honest moment.
I did lose some weight during the first month + into the second. But after that? Nothing. The scale stopped moving. My shorts were still hugging my thighs a tad too tight + I was honestly sad to see that my body still didn’t look like what I recognized as myself. Not the size it usually settles into when it’s feeling + working its best.
Still, I already had my third month on the way. Even though I was discouraged, I figured there was no harm in trying one more month. I also decided to stay away from the scale for a few weeks because I could feel myself starting to get a little obsessive about it.
Until…
I went to Epcot with my mom in late February wearing my lil Ariel outfit + asked her to take some pictures of me for Instagram. I didn’t feel great in them. I still felt inflamed, bloated, + not quite like myself.
Then I went back to Epcot two weeks later. Same Ariel outfit. Don’t worry, I do have a Tinkerbell one on the way. I tried taking some photos again, hoping maybe I’d feel a little more confident in them.
I wasn’t taking these pictures to compare anything. I literally just wanted a cute cover photo for my first day at Flower + Garden.
But when I started looking through the photos, I was honestly shocked.
My body had changed.
My tummy wasn’t holding onto the stress weight the way it had just a few weeks earlier. My legs + arms looked leaner. Even my face was starting to narrow out again.
That night I did check the scale.
No movement.
WTF.
How could I be looking different with no weight loss? How does body composition change without the number changing? Sorcery?
Since then, I’ve lost another pound or two, but more importantly, my body is continuing to change. I’m not avoiding mirrors anymore. And the shorts that were hugging me tight a few weeks ago? Sliding on like butter.
So what have I learned?
Some people start taking this supplement + lose weight almost immediately. Their body composition shifts quickly. They notice changes in cravings or that they naturally start eating more protein.
That wasn’t my experience.
My body needed about two months for the plants to really do their thing. It feels like my body was brought back to baseline first by addressing deeper stuff like gut health + inflammation before it could start working with my body’s GLP 1 signaling in a more efficient way.
We’re all on different journeys + our bodies start in different places.
And I’m really happy to say I’m feeling great. My energy is the best it’s been in… honestly I don’t even know how long. My metabolism + digestion are doing amazing. My body composition is changing. The scale is starting to move. Clothes are fitting again.
And my body is responding really well even when I introduce copious amounts of food I don’t usually eat.
St. Patrick’s Day… ahemm.
