Embracing Eclipse Season August 2026

The second eclipse season of 2026 unfolds between August 12 and August 28, creating what astrologers often call the Eclipse Corridor or Eclipse Portal.

This year's eclipses include:

August 12, 2026
Total Solar Eclipse
New Moon in Leo

August 28, 2026
Partial Lunar Eclipse
Full Moon in Pisces

Unlike an ordinary New Moon or Full Moon, eclipses have captivated humanity for thousands of years because they're rare, dramatic, + impossible to ignore. For a few moments, the lights we've always depended on suddenly change: the sun disappears in the middle of the day, the moon darkens, birds become quiet, temps drop, + everything just feels different.

Astronomically, we understand exactly what's happening.

Spiritually? There’s a lot to work with there.

Many people see eclipses as invitations to pause, reflect, + trust that even when life feels uncertain, something meaningful is unfolding beneath the surface.

Eclipse season isn't something to fear, but it IS one of the most transformational chapters of the astrological year

While the eclipses themselves happen on these dates, many astrologers notice the energy beginning a week or two beforehand and lingering for several weeks afterward. So if you’ve been feeling s stirring in the depths of your gut, that’s why.

Eclipse season is less like flipping a light switch + more like walking through a hallway. You don't instantly arrive somewhere new, you slowly leave one room before stepping into another + that in between space is where eclipse magic often happens.

A Little History Behind Eclipse Season

Long before telescopes existed, eclipses were some of the most astonishing events people had ever witnessed.

Imagine standing outside in the middle of a bright afternoon when the sky suddenly begins to darken.

WTF?!

Animals become unusually quiet, the air cools, stars begin appearing overhead.

It's no surprise that nearly every civilization developed stories to explain these incredible moments.

Ancient China believed celestial dragons were swallowing the Sun.

The Vikings believed enormous wolves chased the Sun + Moon across the sky.

The Maya became remarkably skilled at predicting eclipses through advanced astronomical observation.

Ancient Mesopotamians often viewed eclipses as messages concerning kings, governments, + major societal shifts.

Many Indigenous cultures viewed eclipses not as something dangerous, but as sacred moments deserving quiet reflection, ceremony, + respect. I like this.

Today, we understand the beautiful science behind eclipses. They're simply the result of the sun, moon, + earth lining up perfectly enough for one celestial body to cast a shadow on another.

But understanding the science doesn't erase the symbolism.

If anything, knowing how rare these alignments are makes them feel even more meaningful.

What Makes Eclipse Season Different?

If ordinary moon cycles are monthly check ins, eclipses are major life edits.

Many astrologers believe eclipses don't necessarily create brand new circumstances.

Instead, they reveal what has already been developing beneath the surface.

Think about a splinter. It's been there for a while, you see the black speck, but you’re just not in the mood to endure the pain associated with digging it out. Eventually, your body will naturally push that splinter out.

The eclipse simply helps bring it to the surface so healing can finally begin.

That's why eclipse seasons are often associated with things like:

✨career changes

✨relationship shifts

✨unexpected opportunities

✨moving

✨creative breakthroughs

✨truth coming to light

✨identity changes

✨ending old chapters

✨beginning new ones

Not everyone experiences dramatic external events. Maybe you’ll experience this internally.

The Energy of August's Eclipse Season

August 12: Total Solar Eclipse in Leo

Leo is ruled by the Sun itself, making this eclipse especially powerful.

Leo governs: confidence, creativity, leadership, joy, visibility, the heart, self expression, + authenticity.

Many people think Leo is simply about being the center of attention but it’s sooooo much deeper than that.

Leo asks whether you're expressing yourself because it feels true or because you're trying to earn approval.

I’ll let that sentence settle. Go on, read it again.

This eclipse shines light on places where we've been performing instead of simply being US.

It asks:

Who are you becoming?

Where have you been hiding?

What gifts have you been minimizing?

Where have you confused validation with authenticity? (!!!!)

Because being seen isn't the same thing as shining.

This eclipse invites you to lead from your true self instead of your carefully curated self.

August 28: Partial Lunar Eclipse in Pisces

Just over two weeks later, everything softens.

Pisces governs: intuition, dreams, compassion, spirituality, forgiveness, emotional healing, imagination, +surrender

If Leo asks you to become more fully yourself, Pisces asks you to release everything that convinced you that you couldn't.

This eclipse will bring up some deeply emotional things like old fears, identities, stories, coping mechanisms, grief, expectations.

Anything that no longer belongs may begin asking to be released. + if you don’t allow those things to be released? They will be released for you, whether you like it or not.

Together these eclipses tell one beautiful story:

Become who you truly are, then let go of everything that says you aren't.

What You May Feel Energetically

Everyone experiences eclipses differently.

Some people barely notice them.

Others feel like life suddenly speeds up.

Collectively, many people report experiencing:

✨heightened intuition

✨vivid dreams

✨unexpected conversations

✨old memories resurfacing

✨creative inspiration

✨relationship shifts

✨feeling emotional without obvious reason

✨restlessness

✨fatigue

✨wanting to simplify life

f✨eeling suspended between two versions of themselves

One of my favorite ways to describe eclipse season is this:

Imagine standing in a hallway: you've already walked out of one room, you haven't quite entered the next, + the hallway can feel uncomfortable because nothing feels settled yet. But hopefully it’s decorated nicely so that in-between space is enjoyable.

But hallways aren't meant to be permanent, they exist to move you somewhere new.

The Spiritual Lesson of These Two Eclipses

If I had to summarize this entire eclipse season in one sentence, it would be this:

Stop trying to force your next chapter + start trusting what's naturally unfolding.

The Leo eclipse reminds us that authenticity requires courage.

The Pisces eclipse reminds us that courage also requires surrender.

One asks you to step forward.

The other asks you to let go.

Both require trust.

Many of us spend enormous amounts of energy trying to control outcomes.

Eclipse season reminds us that not everything beautiful arrives because we forced it.

Some things arrive because we finally made space for them.

Sometimes growth happens because we choose change.

Sometimes growth happens because life lovingly chooses it for us.

Either way...

The invitation is the same: become available for alignment.

How to Work With Eclipse Season

Here are my favorite ways to work with this energy.

Cleanse yourself instead of your crystals.

Many traditions view eclipses as energetically unpredictable rather than amplifying.

Instead of worrying about crystal maintenance, step into a shower with the intention of washing away an old version of yourself.

Imagine the water carrying away outdated fears, identities, + expectations.

Let the eclipse work on you.

Pause before making irreversible decisions.

I like to think of eclipse season as Mercury Retrograde's wiser cousin.

If possible, give yourself a little breathing room before quitting the job, ending the relationship, making the giant purchase, or burning everything down.

More information almost always arrives after eclipse season settles.

Respond instead of reacting.

Journal about what you're ready to stop controlling.

Ordinary New Moons are wonderful for intention setting, but eclipses often ask something different.

Instead of writing what you want to happen, write down what you're finally ready to surrender.

Fold the paper, tuck it away, + then revisit it after eclipse season ends.

You may be surprised by what naturally shifted once you stopped gripping so tightly. It can also be really sweet to see what came in its place.

Notice who naturally leaves and who naturally arrives.

Eclipses have a funny way of reorganizing our lives.

Some relationships deepen, others drift away, some opportunities disappear, others appear completely out of nowhere.

Rather than chasing what's leaving, ask yourself what space is being created.

Nature rarely removes something without creating room for something else.

Keep a list called "Things I Didn't See Coming."

One of eclipse season's biggest themes is revelation: Unexpected conversations, opportunities, endings, + clarity.

Write them all down.

Looking back later, you'll often realize the pieces fit together much more beautifully than they seemed at the time.

An Eclipse Season Diffuser Blend

When life feels uncertain, I always find myself reaching for oils that remind me to stay rooted while remaining open to change.

3 drops Grounding - encourages stability while helping you stay present instead of spiraling into every possible future outcome.

3 drops Frankincense - reminds us to respond thoughtfully rather than react impulsively.

2 drops Bergamot - supports emotional flexibility and optimism while helping lighten emotional heaviness that sometimes accompanies periods of change.

The Big Takeaway

I don't believe eclipse season is something to fear but to respect.

Spiritually, they remind us that uncertainty isn't always a sign something has gone wrong.

Sometimes it's the space between who you've been and who you're becoming.

You don't have to know exactly where you're going, sometimes the bravest thing you can do is trust that what's falling away is making room for something that fits you better.

Sometimes things falling away is life clearing the path for the version of you that's been waiting to emerge.

Muah muah muah!
